Summary
This role reports to the engineering lead and will act as the primary owner for production equipment within controlled environments and their supporting utility systems. The engineer will plan and oversee day-to-day technical support, both scheduled and unscheduled, ensuring smooth operation of equipment and infrastructure while aligning with compliance standards, production schedules, and cost efficiency targets. They will also manage requalification, lifecycle oversight of equipment, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Dublin, Ireland (5 days onsite)

Core Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with internal teams (engineering, operations, quality, facilities) and external contractors to maintain and improve equipment reliability.

  • Manage all activities related to production and utility systems, including preventative and corrective work.

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to optimize programs for utilities, including reviews of completed work and updates to job plans.

  • Provide technical training to technicians on production and utility systems.

  • Drive equipment reliability and maintenance improvements through root cause analysis and structured problem-solving.

  • Oversee lifecycle management and validation-related activities for critical equipment.

  • Provide engineering input during troubleshooting, process transfers, and investigations.

  • Collaborate with quality and compliance teams on requalification programs.

  • Manage and coordinate third-party vendors carrying out engineering work.

  • Lead or support system upgrades, specification development, engineering documentation, and operating procedures.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency, reliability, and capacity improvements.

  • Research and support new technologies and system enhancements, including energy-saving initiatives.

  • Track and report on engineering performance metrics in utilities and manufacturing support areas.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians, and operators.

  • Support site safety and environmental objectives by ensuring all activities meet regulatory and internal standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in engineering, applied science, or equivalent experience.

  • 5-10 years of technical experience in a regulated production environment (Pharma/Medical devices)

  • Experience in maintaining, commissioning, or upgrading production and utility systems.

  • Strong understanding of equipment lifecycle management, validation, and structured problem-solving.

  • Evidence of continuous professional development and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Skilled in project delivery, including installation, design review, commissioning, and qualification of equipment (CQV)or system improvements.

  • Exposure to operational improvements in utilities and production support systems (e.g., piping, waste handling, energy systems).

  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Results-driven mindset with mature judgment and independent decision-making ability.
