Process / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer

Role Summary

The process engineer is the bridge between the automation equipment team and the production floor. When Joe's team builds a machine, this person takes it, runs samples, collects data, and determines whether the equipment and process are producing acceptable results. They handle day-to-day process issue resolution on the line, support line balancing, track and analyze production data, and help train operators. This is a hands-on plus data analysis role, not a desk job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take equipment from the automation team, run production samples, and validate process output
  • Perform statistical analysis on process data using Minitab, Excel, or similar tools
  • Resolve day-to-day process issues on the production line
  • Support line balancing and production workflow optimization
  • Track and analyze production data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Communicate results and feedback to the automation/equipment team on what is working and what needs adjustment
  • Work with R&D as the product design evolves, adapting processes to product changes
  • Develop and deliver training for operators and technicians on new processes and equipment
  • Support process documentation including work instructions, control plans, and validation protocols

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering in a production environment
  • Strong statistical analysis skills: Minitab (preferred) and/or Excel-based data analysis
  • Experience running designed experiments, capability studies, or structured sample runs
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience - must be comfortable working on the production floor with equipment and product
  • Experience with process issue troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Good communication skills to work across automation, quality, R&D, and production teams

Preferred Experience

  • Background in fiber optic manufacturing, precision assembly, or connector termination processes
  • Experience with line balancing and production workflow optimization
  • Familiarity with process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) and control plan development
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience or certification
  • Experience training operators on new processes
