Job Description:
Dish Network is expanding its wireless network services under Dish Anywhere, and we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Surveillance Engineer. The Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and ensuring the optimal performance of Dish Network's wireless network infrastructure. The engineer will focus on Layer 1 troubleshooting while working with Radio Frequency (RF) deployments. Expertise in network transportation and protocols, particularly those related to routers, switches, and IP communication, is required.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose and troubleshoot physical connectivity issues within Layer 1 and Layer 2 OSI model to ensure the seamless operation of the network.Manage and troubleshoot network transport across routers and switches, ensuring the reliable and efficient transmission of data between network nodes.Work with dynamic routing protocols such as ISIS, OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) to manage and optimize the flow of network traffic.Work on transport technologies: SDH, DWDM, SON, ACI.Collaborate with internal teams (RF, Core, Cloud Infra, Tech Dev, Market Ops) and external vendors (e.g., AT&T, Zayo).Perform post-maintenance site health checks.Ensure transport network availability >99.50%.Uphold SLAs, KPIs, and support metrics with vendors and internal stakeholders.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the optimization and proper operation of Dish Network's wireless infrastructure.Work closely with Radio Frequency (RF) teams to troubleshoot and optimize wireless network deployments.Maintain detailed records of network issues, performance metrics, and troubleshooting actions taken.Respond to network outages and performance issues in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruptions.Qualifications:
Strong experience with troubleshooting Layer 1 and Layer 2 network issues.Familiarity with radio frequency (RF) deployments and wireless network operations.Knowledge of network transportation and IP communication protocols.Expertise with routers, switches, and dynamic routing protocols such as ISIS, OSPF and BGP.Proficient in using network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently.Desired Skills:
