The Sr. ISP Engineer will serve as the primary on-site liaison overseeing new data center construction and retrofit projects in the Lebanon, Indiana area, with additional responsibility for data centers across neighbouring states. This role focuses on physical auditing, quality control, vendor management, and ensuring all builds and upgrades meet specifications. The engineer will work within the General Services (GS) team, which is responsible for the operation of the buildings themselves - including rows of racks, servers, and equipment that are updated constantly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the on-site liaison between construction teams, vendors, and META for new data center builds and retrofits
- Conduct physical audits of specific rooms within data centers, documenting findings with photographs and detailed reports
- Perform quality control (QC) inspections - checking every specification to ensure installations are completed correctly and to standard
- Manage project scheduling and track all updates and changes required across data center facilities
- Mount and replace network equipment including rack servers, modems, patch panels, and fibre cabling
- Coordinate with network engineers to address ticketing issues related to equipment and hardware
- Oversee vendor activities and ensure construction and retrofit timelines are met
- Maintain accurate records of data center configurations, equipment inventories, and audit results
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong knowledge of fibre optic networks and ISP fibre network infrastructure
- Hands-on experience working within data centre environments, including rack servers, modems, cabling, and patch panels
- Proven experience with complete data centre construction, rack setup, and structured cabling
- Familiarity with data centre auditing processes and quality control procedures
- Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating construction or retrofit projects
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and construction plans
- Strong organisational and scheduling skills
- Excellent communication skills to serve as an effective liaison between internal teams and external vendors
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (expert-level proficiency not required; general understanding sufficient)
- Prior experience working with ISP or telecommunications companies
- Background in large-scale data centre environments
IMPORTANT NOTES
- This is not a troubleshooting role - the focus is on physical auditing, quality control, and project coordination
- The engineer should understand what key components do (e.g. patch panels, modems) but will not be responsible for diagnosing or resolving technical faults
- The data centre in Lebanon has not yet been built; the role will begin remotely and transition to on-site once the facility is operational
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
Create and manage the new data centre in Indiana and bring existing data centres across neighbouring states up to current standards and specifications.
