The Fiber Technician (Tech 2) supports a pilot manufacturing and production line building precision fiber optic assemblies for broadband and data center applications. This role is responsible for assembly, inspection, dimensional measurement, testing, and data documentation in a clean, lab-style production environment.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with small, delicate components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build fiber optic components and subassemblies
  • Operate precision bench-top equipment for fiber preparation (cutting, stripping, termination)
  • Use digital microscopes to inspect fiber assemblies
  • Take dimensional measurements (length, diameter, alignment)
  • Capture images and document inspection results in internal systems
  • Perform pass/fail evaluations based on engineering specifications
  • Troubleshoot minor process or equipment issues
  • Work directly with engineers on prototype builds and pilot production runs
  • Follow detailed SOPs and work instructions
  • Maintain traceability and production documentation

Required Experience

  • 2+ years in precision manufacturing, electronics, medical device, semiconductor, or similar environment
  • Experience with small-part assembly or delicate components
  • Experience using microscopes for inspection
  • Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, or similar)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings or engineering instructions
  • Strong documentation and quality mindset
