Permanent Role - Cheshire (East) based - Hybrid Working (2 days a week on site)
Salary Range of £55,000 to £64,500 (possibly up to £70,000 depending on expertise)
We are looking to recruit a number of Network Engineer SMEs for a leading FS organisation based in Cheshire.
As a skilled SME you will work in our Clients Project Team, leading on transformational programs and networks led initiatives where you will be responsible for creating designs which are in line with current architecture guidelines, ensuring documentation is fit for purpose, as well as ensuring compliance to all network disciplines including participation in governance, change management and risk/audit requirements.
Preferred candidates will ideally have experience working in financial services (familiarity with change control and large-scale environments) and have a background in large-scale enterprise or data centre networks.
Successful candidates will need a minimum 5 years' experience working as a Lead/Senior/SME Network Engineer and have proven project delivery experience also.
You will be a strong communicator - Dealing with Stakeholders on delivery plans providing next steps and updates.
Technical Expertise required:
Routing & Switching (Cisco, Juniper)Firewalls (Fortinet)Load Balancers (F5)NOTE - Ideally, you will be skilled in all three areas, but expertise in at least one is essential.
Other Technical experience that would be beneficial incudes (not mandatory):
Bluecoat, Symantec Proxy, zScaler, Infoblox, Forescout, NetScalerCisco Certified - minimum CCNP Enterprise, FortiGate Associate or Professional and F5 LTM/GTM at 'Certified Technical Specialist' or equivalent level (one or multiple of these certifications)

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join a large-scale infrastructure team on behalf of a public sector client. This position is offered on a 3-year day-rate contract basis and involves the support, maintenance, and development of critical network systems across multiple national sites. Lucrative civil service package included.
This role is also suitable for professionals with a broader infrastructure engineering background, provided they have strong hands-on experience with networking technologies.
Key Responsibilities:Provide Level 2 support for Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) across over 200 geographically distributed sites
Configure and maintain network hardware including Alcatel and Cisco switches and routers
Manage and support core routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
Support and administer Fortinet or equivalent SD-WAN solutions
Troubleshoot and support VPN technologies and their impact on services and applications
Configure and maintain HP Aruba wireless networks, including ClearPass and AirWave
Support and maintain a cloud-based Unified Communications platform (8x8)
Use tools such as Omnivista, Zabbix, Wireshark, and FortiManager for network performance monitoring and diagnostics
Respond to Level 2 and priority tickets via the internal helpdesk system, ensuring timely resolution and documentation
Manage computer rooms and data centre facilities, including cabling, racking, UPS systems, environmental controls, and IoT sensors
Requirements:Minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar network engineering role
Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies
Experience working with Alcatel, Cisco, Fortinet, and Aruba products
Ability to work independently, particularly during critical outages
Relevant certifications (e.g. CCNA, CompTIA Network+, etc.) are desirable
