Field Fiber Technician - OTDR & Network Testing

Are you ready to be part of the team keeping the worlds fiber networks running at peak performance? Were looking for a Field Fiber Technician to support end-to-end fiber testing and characterization on metro dark fiber and long-haul network deployments for a leading telecom infrastructure provider.

What Youll Do
In this role, youll be the boots on the ground for fiber network testing and troubleshooting, working both independently and as part of a two-person team. Youll manage day-to-day fiber testing, keep projects on schedule, coordinate with vendors to make sure standards and timelines are met, and partner closely with internal project teams to hit delivery targets. Expect frequent overtime and travel to customer sites, with real ownership over the quality and pace of your work.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Test cable connectivity and perform full fiber characterization to gauge overall network performance
Analyze test results in the field to pinpoint failure points
Maintain project documentation to keep schedules and deadlines on track
Ensure site delivery meets standards for grounding, power, rack layout, cable routing, and cooling
Keep accurate records and prepare reports on fiber cable, strand, and network testing

What You Bring

Associate degree in a technical field (computer science, computer engineering, network engineering) or equivalent hands-on experience
Experience with ISP and OSP physical fiber infrastructure
Solid working knowledge of OTDR testing and the ability to interpret results
Background in fiber optic cable design and implementation
Strong grasp of fiber types and splicing methodology
A drive to work hard, travel when needed, and communicate clearly with teams and customers

Bonus Points For

Experience delivering telecom infrastructure, space, and power from third-party suppliers
Familiarity with dark fiber delivery and fusion splicing
Understanding of carrier hotel interconnectivity - physical interfaces, cable types, connectors, and riser details
