About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Middleware Engineer to support the development of next-generation connected devices and broadband platforms. This role is ideal for engineers with strong expertise in embedded software development, middleware architecture, network protocol analysis, and Linux-based systems.
You will work closely with platform architects, SoC vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop, integrate, debug, and optimize software solutions within an RDK or embedded Linux ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in C programming, networking protocols, and system-level troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Embedded Middleware Development
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain middleware components for embedded platforms.
- Ensure seamless communication between hardware, operating system, and application layers.
- Integrate and validate software provided by SoC vendors while ensuring system stability and performance.
- Contribute to feature development, platform enhancements, and ongoing product improvements.
System Integration & Debugging
- Investigate and resolve complex issues spanning middleware, networking, and hardware interactions.
- Perform root cause analysis using logs, traces, crash dumps, and debugging tools.
- Troubleshoot system-level software issues across embedded Linux environments.
- Support performance tuning, optimization, and reliability improvements.
Networking & Connectivity
- Analyze and debug IP-based communication and wireless connectivity issues.
- Work with networking technologies including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, and related protocols.
- Investigate Wi-Fi packet behavior, connectivity performance, and wireless communication challenges.
- Collaborate with networking and platform teams to improve system connectivity and communication flows.
Software Development
- Develop high-quality, maintainable embedded software using C in resource-constrained environments.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to software engineering best practices.
- Support software releases, upgrades, and feature rollouts.
- Contribute to system architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with SoC vendors, platform engineering teams, QA, and product stakeholders.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and troubleshooting sessions.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within the development team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience in Embedded Systems Development.
- Experience working with middleware frameworks, preferably within an RDK environment.
- Proficiency in C programming for embedded applications.
- Experience working with Linux-based embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures and vendor software integration (Broadcom, Qualcomm, or similar).
- Solid knowledge of:
- TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- DHCP, DNS, TCP, UDP, HTTP protocols
- Wi-Fi networking and packet-level analysis
- Wireless communication and connectivity troubleshooting
- Proven experience debugging low-level software and system integration issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RDK-B and/or RDK-V platforms.
- Knowledge of broadband gateways, routers, DOCSIS technologies, or set-top box platforms.
- Familiarity withWi-Fi analysis and testing tools such as:
- Wireshark
- iPerf
- Aircrack-ng
- Experience with embedded automation and scripting using:
- Python
- Bash/Shell scripting
- Understanding of CI/CD practices and software integration workflows.
