🚀 On-site | 12-Month Contract (Extension/Conversion Potential)
We're looking for a C++ Embedded Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team working on advanced robotics and automation systems. This role focuses on modernising an existing platform into a clean, scalable C++17+ architecture, giving you the opportunity to work on both system design and implementation.
You'll be working at the application layer (not low-level firmware), developing software that processes data from robotic systems and enables key functionality such as diagnostics, logging, and replay tools-critical for debugging and improving system performance in a real-time environment.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role supporting both hardware architecture and embedded software/firmware decisions across the full product life-cycle from concept and chip-set selection to lab qualification and field troubleshooting. You will work closely with global R&D teams, chipset vendors, and customers to ensure Sagemcom's DOCSIS CPE products meet performance, provisioning, and reliability expectations for DOCSIS 3.0, 3.1, and 4.0
Key Responsibilities:
Lead DOCSIS CPE design reviews (hardware + embedded software) and influence SoC/component selection.Build and execute DOCSIS test and qualification plans in a lab environment.Guide provisioning workflows (DHCP/TFTP/TOD, TLVs, security, certificates, PKI).Troubleshoot complex DOCSIS issues using Wireshark/tcpdump, CM logs, SNMP, and Linux debugging tools.Support customers during product definition, feature planning, and field issue reproduction.Collaborate with chipset vendors to debug interoperability, performance, and stability issues.Ensure firmware upgrade flows, secure boot, and certificate handling meet DOCSIS security requirements.Maintain lab documentation, test plans, and internal knowledge base.Provide roadmap input on DOCSIS features, standards evolution, and future CPE capabilities.Required Skills & Experience:
Strong hands‑on DOCSIS experience (3.0 / 3.1 required, 4.0 strongly preferred).Proven background designing or qualifying DOCSIS cable modems/gateways in an R&D environment.Solid understanding of embedded Linux, embedded C, and firmware architecture.Deep knowledge of DOCSIS provisioning: DHCP, TFTP, TOD, TLVs, config files, certificates/PKI.Strong debugging skills using Wireshark, tcpdump, SNMP, CM logs, gdb/strace.Networking fundamentals: IPv4/IPv6, NAT, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP.Experience working with chipset/SoC vendors (Broadcom, MaxLinear, etc.).Ability to lead design decisions, mentor engineers, and translate vague requirements into clear plans.GCS is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
