IoT & Edge Software Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for an IoT & Edge Software Engineer to join the team on a contract basis and help develop software solutions for an IoT-enabled quality control device. This person will work at the intersection of edge computing, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering, building the systems that move data from physical devices into the cloud for processing and analysis.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Python developer who has experience working with AWS IoT, edge devices, and hardware-to-cloud data pipelines. Experience with machine learning and anomaly detection is a strong plus.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain Python applications running on NVIDIA Jetson edge devices.
  • Build and improve software that collects data from IoT-enabled hardware.
  • Design and support device-to-cloud data pipelines for reliable data ingestion.
  • Configure and integrate AWS IoT services using MQTT, Lambda, and S3.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, data flow, and performance issues across edge and cloud environments.
  • Process and organize device-generated data for downstream analysis and quality-control applications.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and engineering teams to improve the overall IoT platform.
  • Help develop solutions for identifying abnormal patterns and behaviors within device data.
  • Contribute to the testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization of edge and cloud-based applications.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience with Python development.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS IoT technologies.
  • Experience working with MQTT, AWS Lambda, and Amazon S3.
  • Experience developing applications for edge computing environments, particularly NVIDIA Jetson.
  • Background designing or supporting data ingestion workflows from hardware to cloud.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work across hardware, software, and cloud environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing machine learning models.
  • Knowledge of anomaly detection and predictive analytics.
  • Experience with IoT applications in manufacturing, industrial technology, or quality control.
  • Experience deploying software or ML models to edge devices.
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing and monitoring.
