Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who is passionate about building scalable automation solutions and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This is more than a traditional testing role-it's an engineering-focused position where you'll design, develop, and maintain robust test frameworks, automation tools, and quality solutions that enable rapid, reliable software delivery.
As an SDET, you'll work alongside software engineers, product teams, and DevOps professionals to ensure applications are built with quality at their core. You'll leverage coding expertise to create intelligent automation solutions, improve testing efficiency, and drive engineering excellence across the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automated testing frameworks
- Building automated solutions for web, API, backend, and microservices testing
- Writing production-quality code to support test infrastructure and automation platforms
- Integrating automated testing within CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Developing tools that improve test coverage, reliability, and engineering productivity
- Collaborating closely with developers to promote shift-left testing practices
- Performing root cause analysis and helping teams identify and prevent defects early
- Contributing to quality strategy, automation architecture, and engineering best practices
What We're Looking For
- Strong programming experience in Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or similar languages
- Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks
- Strong understanding of software development principles and testing methodologies
- Experience with modern automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or related technologies
- Knowledge of API testing, service validation, and test data management
- Experience working with CI/CD tools and modern DevOps environments
- Familiarity with cloud-native applications, containers, and distributed systems is highly desirable
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
