Job Description

A global fiber manufacturing customer which is a global leader in broadband connectivity, Fiber and copper cabling, wireless infrastructure, and advanced network solutions. The Shakopee, MN facility is part of advanced manufacturing group, focused on next‑generation Fiber connectivity technologies now transitioning under the Amphenol acquisition. GCS is associated with the customer, and we are top U.S. staffing partner, supporting engineering, R&D, manufacturing, Fiber, and wireless programs.

All Assembly technicians will be cross‑trained across every station to ensure scalability and flexibility. Senior technicians are currently validating the first stations, and the team will be expanding by Dec 2026 and hiring is going on. This is hands‑on, lab‑based build work involving assembly, inspection, equipment operation, documentation, and quality assurance.

Job Responsibilities

You will be given 6 weeks of ongoing paid work training sessions if you have no fiber/cable experience as it is a part of process.Perform hands‑on Fiber assembly on a prototype product line.Use microscopes, crimpers, stripping tools, epoxies, and precision assembly equipment.Conduct visual inspections and quality checks at assigned stations.Follow detailed work instructions, drawings, and SOPs.Document production results, measurements, and build notes (Excel/internal logs)Rotate across all stations to eventually build the full product end‑to‑endWork in a lab and manufacturing floor environment - not an office role

Required Experience

Job Title: Fiber Assembly Technician

12-Month Contract
Location: Shakopee, MN

Project Overview

This role supports a pilot manufacturing line focused on building prototype fiber cable and connector products. The manufacturing process includes sorting, stripping, preparation, coating, assembly, inspection, testing, and documentation. Team members will be cross-trained across multiple stations to support production flexibility and scalability.

This is a hands-on position involving assembly, inspection, equipment operation, documentation, and quality-focused manufacturing work in a lab and production environment.

Job ResponsibilitiesPerform hands-on fiber assembly on a prototype product line.Use microscopes, crimpers, stripping tools, epoxies, and precision assembly equipment.Conduct visual inspections and quality checks at assigned stations.Follow detailed work instructions, drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Document production results, measurements, and build notes using Excel and internal tracking systems.Troubleshoot build issues and escalate defects as needed.Rotate across multiple workstations and contribute to the full assembly process.Work in a lab and manufacturing environment.Required Experience

No prior fiber experience is required. Training will be provided.

We are seeking candidates with:

A strong mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly background, such as cable harness assembly, PCB assembly, medical devices, aerospace, robotics, automotive, machine assembly, or similar environments.Experience using small hand tools and precision equipment, including crimpers, cutters, microscopes, calipers, and tweezers.The ability to follow written instructions and accurately document work.Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
