We are seeking a Transport Engineer to support the design, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of telecommunications transport network infrastructure.
The role focuses on ensuring reliable transmission of voice, data, and network services across optical and carrier-grade transport networks. The Transport Engineer will work with network equipment, fiber infrastructure, transport technologies, and network management systems to support service delivery and network availability.
The ideal candidate has experience with telecommunications networks, optical transport, network infrastructure, and troubleshooting, with the ability to work closely with engineering, operations, field, and customer-facing teams.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the deployment, configuration, testing, and maintenance of transport network infrastructure.
Monitor and troubleshoot transport network performance, connectivity, and service issues.
Support optical and network transport technologies across metro and long-haul environments.
Perform circuit provisioning, service activation, network turn-ups, and acceptance testing.
Troubleshoot network outages and perform fault isolation across physical, optical, and network layers.
Support installation, replacement, upgrades, and maintenance of transport network equipment.
Perform network testing and analyze test results to identify faults and performance issues.
Support network restoration activities during outages and service-impacting events.
Coordinate with field engineers, network operations, engineering teams, vendors, and customers.
Maintain network documentation, equipment records, configuration information, and technical reports.
Support preventative maintenance and network improvement activities.
Ensure network deployments and maintenance activities follow established technical and operational standards.
Participate in projects involving network expansion, upgrades, migrations, and new service deployments.
What You Will LearnPractical experience with telecommunications transport networks and network infrastructure.
Fundamentals of optical transport and fiber-based network technologies.
Transport technologies such as DWDM, OTN, SONET, Ethernet, and carrier transport.
Network provisioning, circuit turn-up, service activation, and acceptance testing.
Transport network troubleshooting and fault-isolation techniques.
How network equipment and optical infrastructure operate within carrier environments.
Network monitoring, performance analysis, and outage restoration processes.
Fiber and optical testing methodologies.
How enterprise and wholesale telecommunications services are delivered across transport networks.
Network documentation, configuration management, and operational procedures.
Experience working with engineering, operations, field-service, and customer-facing teams.
Career development toward Senior Transport Engineer, Optical Engineer, Network Engineer, Transport Network Architect, or Network Operations roles.
