We are seeking a Telecom Field Engineer with hands-on experience supporting carrier transport networks in the field.
This position supports a broad mix of legacy and modern transport technologies, with a particular need for candidates who still understand TDM and SONET infrastructure, including:
DS0 | DS1/T1 | DS3/T3 | OC-3 | OC-12 | OC-48 | OC-192 | Ethernet | IP | Wavelength | DWDM
This is a highly hands-on role requiring regular travel between telecom sites across Long Island.
What You'll Be DoingPerform onsite installation, provisioning, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of transport network equipment.Support legacy carrier circuits including DS0, DS1, and DS3.Maintain and troubleshoot SONET transport from OC-3 through OC-192.Support Ethernet, IP, optical wavelength, and DWDM environments.Perform fiber testing and fault isolation using OTDRs, power meters, fiber scopes, and related test equipment.Troubleshoot live network failures and identify defective cards, optics, modules, and transport hardware.Replace failed components and restore affected services.Assist with route monitoring, outage response, and field restoration.Support circuit activation, turn-up, and verification.Maintain accurate documentation for circuit work and equipment changes.Manage field inventory, truck stock, spare modules, optics, and test tools.Technical Background We're Looking ForCandidates should have hands-on experience with several of the following:

Military communications, signal, electronics, and telecommunications backgrounds may also translate well.
