Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and enhance cloud-based backend services within a modern SaaS platform. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, understands end-to-end system behaviour, and collaborates closely with architects, frontend engineers, DevOps teams, mobile developers, and QA professionals.

We are looking for strong software engineers rather than specialists in a single technology area. You should be comfortable understanding system interactions, integration points, and data flows while making technical decisions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability, and business requirements.

You will also be encouraged to leverage modern AI-assisted tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development & EngineeringDesign, develop, and maintain backend services primarily using Java and Spring Boot.Build RESTful APIs, integrations, data-processing services, and core business functionality.Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and scalable code.Collaborate with Product, Architecture, DevOps, QA, Frontend Engineering, and other technical teams.Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.Analyse and optimise application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.Support adoption of AI-assisted software development practices.Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.Develop and maintain automated testing solutions.Improve system observability through monitoring, metrics, and logging.Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues.Contribute to CI/CD and deployment improvement initiatives.Required Experience6+ years of software engineering experience in backend or full-stack development, ideally within SaaS or cloud-based environments.Strong Java development experience.Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate.Understanding of distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and modern application architecture.Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Strong knowledge of Git, Maven or Gradle, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.Exposure to monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.Desirable ExperienceExperience working within complex enterprise software environments.Exposure to highly scalable, customer-facing SaaS products.Experience developing solutions that operate in regulated, high-availability, or large-scale environments.What's on OfferOpportunity to work on a large-scale cloud platform serving global customers.Exposure to modern cloud-native technologies and engineering practices.Competitive salary and benefits package.Collaborative and supportive engineering culture.Hybrid working environment.Opportunity to influence technical direction and platform evolution.
