About the role
We're looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to help own and evolve our internal AI platform over the long term. This role is distinct from a product feature developer - you'll work on the platform itself: its core services, frameworks, tooling, and developer experience, acting as a technical partner to teams onboarding or adopting the platform.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and evolve core platform services, frameworks, and APIsOwn the long-term technical direction of the platform, balancing delivery with extensibility and reliabilityDefine and maintain opinionated architectural patterns, reference implementations, and golden paths for teams building on the platformManage the full AI lifecycle from PoC to production - prompt engineering, context management, tool-calling optimisation, CI/CDImprove the end-to-end developer experience for product teams using the platformBuild and maintain tooling, templates, libraries, and automation to reduce onboarding timeAct as an internal technical consultant to teams adopting the platform, gathering feedback and translating it into improvementsBuild platform-level support for Generative AI and Agentic AI, enabling safe, reusable integration patternsArchitect and implement solutions using Python (FastAPI, Flask, OOP, typing, async programming, Pydantic)Deploy and operate containerised, cloud-native solutionsImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and influence engineering standards across teamsRequirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field5+ years' professional software engineering experienceStrong Python expertise (OOP, typing, async, Pydantic)Proven experience building REST APIs using FastAPI or FlaskHands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Git branching strategiesExperience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL, and microservicesStrong testing discipline (PyTest, automated test strategies)Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across teamsStrong understanding of Agile delivery frameworksNice to have
