Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fiber Analyst to join our team and help technicians and engineers remotely.

The successful candidate will be responsible to help technicians remotely for perform Fiber characterization, Bi-directional Testing, troubleshooting remotely on vendor Fiber networks, primarily within ISP & OSP environments.

The role requires expertise in OTDR to validate Fiber paths remotely, identify issues, and provide remediation recommendations.

As part of a small, dynamic remote team, you will have to prepare test packages remotely, manage project schedules, and collaborate with vendors, project managers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

Help technicians and engineers in the field for Fiber Testing & Troubleshooting:

Read OTDR to map and analyse Fiber routes, identifying splices, connectors, bends, and faults along the Fiber path.

Help them Perform CD/PMD, Bi-directional testing and power meter/laser tests to assess Fiber integrity and bandwidth capabilities remotely.

Remediation & Repair: Based on test results, perform fusion splicing on problematic Fiber segments, ensuring minimal signal loss and optimal Fiber performance.

Help technicians and field engineers Conduct Fiber end-face inspection and cleaning as necessary.

Documentation & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive test reports remotely, redlined Fiber path documentation, and demarcation maps.

Document and report all findings, remediation efforts, and retest results to stakeholders, including vendors and project managers.

Vendor & Project Management Interface: Work closely with vendors remotely, project managers, and internal Fiber analysts to execute Statements of Work (SOWs) and provide timely feedback on Fiber network issues. Assist with scheduling, coordinating resources, and managing project timelines.

Qualifications Experience:

5+ years in the telecom/Fiber industry, with hands-on experience in field testing, Fiber deployment, and maintenance.

Strong analysis experience working with both ISP (inside plant) and OSP (outside plant) Fiber networks Remotely.

Proficiency in using OTDR for Fiber path validation and troubleshooting.

In-depth knowledge of Fiber characterization techniques such as CD/PMD and power meter/laser testing.

Basic to moderate fusion splicing skills, including splicing and re-splicing of problematic Fiber strands remotely.

Familiarity with Fiber end-face inspection and cleaning tools to ensure proper connector performance and reduce signal loss.

Proficiency with MS Word and Excel for documenting and generating test reports.

Strong ability to compile and present test data in a clear, organized format.

Excellent communication skills, with a comfort level in interfacing with vendors and project managers.

Ability to clearly articulate test findings remotely, remediation plans, and project status updates.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify Fiber-related issues and recommend effective solutions.

Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines.

End Product/Deliverables:

Completed OTDR, CD/PMD, and power/loss reports for Fiber paths.

Redlined Fiber path documentation and demarcation maps remotely.

Identified and remediated issues, including Fiber splicing and cleaning, with confirmation through retesting.

Comprehensive test data and findings shared with the vendor to validate network performance and drive remediation activities. Work Environment & Team:

Working closely with a Project Manager, Fiber Analyst, and vendor contacts.

Team members will collaborate with you remotely on Fiber network testing and troubleshooting, ensuring high standards of performance and customer satisfaction.
