Overview:

The project focuses on the development, assembly, testing, and validation of advanced fiber optic connectivity products used in modern telecommunications infrastructure. These high-precision components are designed to enable high-speed, reliable data transmission across large-scale data networks. The final products are delivered to major global clients, supporting data centers and next-generation communication systems. The Fiber Technician supports engineering and manufacturing operations by performing precision assembly, prototype builds, and product testing of fiber optic components. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams in a collaborative environment, contributing to pilot production, troubleshooting, and product validation to ensure high-quality output and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform precision assembly of fiber optic components and connectivity productsSupport prototype builds and pilot production linesConduct testing and validation to ensure product performance and quality standardsTroubleshoot assembly and production issues alongside engineering teamsFollow and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical documentationUtilize microscopes and precision tools for handling small componentsPerform quality inspections using measuring devices and inspection toolsCollaborate with multiple teams and stations to maintain smooth production workflowAssist in process improvements and continuous optimization initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience in fiber optic assembly or telecommunications manufacturingHands-on experience with microscopes, small components, or precision assembly workAbility to read and understand technical documentation and work instructionsFamiliarity with quality inspection tools and measurement equipmentStrong attention to detail and manual dexterityAbility to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment

Preferred Background:

Telecommunications, electronics manufacturing, cable manufacturing, medical device, or aerospace industriesRelevant education or training in engineering technology, electronics, or related fields

Job Title: Full Stack Software Engineer Location: Minnetonka, MN Industry: Manufacturing / Automation / Fiber Optics

Detailed Job Description:

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join a growing automation engineering team developing custom manufacturing equipment and production systems for a high-volume fiber optics environment. This role spans the full application stack - from backend services and data pipelines to frontend interfaces and dashboards - supporting industrial automation systems, equipment integration, and manufacturing operations.

You will build end-to-end software solutions that connect automation equipment to the people who operate and manage it. This includes production monitoring dashboards, equipment control applications, data acquisition and reporting tools, and integrations with manufacturing execution systems. You will work alongside mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to deliver software that runs reliably on the production floor. This position is based onsite in the southwest metro area of Minneapolis and supports global manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications supporting custom automation equipment and manufacturing processesBuild backend services for data acquisition, equipment integration, process monitoring, and production reportingDevelop frontend interfaces including operator dashboards, real-time production displays, and internal engineering toolsCreate and maintain APIs that connect automation equipment, databases, and manufacturing systemsBuild and maintain integrations with manufacturing execution systems (MES), databases, and industrial equipmentDevelop data collection, storage, and reporting solutions to support equipment qualification, process development, and production analyticsCollaborate closely with controls engineers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless software integration with automation hardwareSupport equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and debugging of software-related issues on the production floorParticipate in design reviews and contribute to technical architecture decisions for new automation projectsDeploy and maintain applications across production environments, supporting global manufacturing sitesWrite clean, well-documented, testable code following software engineering best practicesTravel to production locations as needed (up to 15%)

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field3+ years of experience in full stack software developmentStrong proficiency in one or more backend languages: Python, C#, C++, Java, or similarStrong proficiency in frontend development with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern framework (React, Angular, or Vue)Experience with relational databases (SQL) and data modelingExperience building and consuming RESTful APIsUnderstanding of software development lifecycle, version control (Git), and testing practicesAbility to work in a cross-functional engineering environment alongside hardware and controls teamsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems across the stackExcellent communication skills for collaboration across global teamsAbility to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing software for industrial automation, manufacturing, or equipment control applicationsFamiliarity with PLC programming, OPC-UA, MQTT, or other industrial communication protocolsExperience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or SCADA systemsExposure to machine vision, robotics, or motion control softwareExperience with real-time data pipelines and live-updating dashboardsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Grafana, or D3.jsExperience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, InfluxDB, or similar)Experience in an Agile development environmentBackground in fiber optics, electronics, or precision manufacturing
