Job Description
A telecom network is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support lab‑based testing, configuration, and validation of network technologies that power our nationwide infrastructure. This role focuses heavily on backup connectivity solutions using Cradlepoint, integration with LTE networks, and hands on work with SD‑WAN Versa or any similar products and next‑generation firewalls like Palo Alto, Fotigate or any other devices.. You'll work within a lab environment to test, optimize, and validate network designs that enhance reliability, performance, and scalability across Comcast's edge and customer‑facing networks. This includes supporting traditional and next‑gen network hardware, enabling faster speeds, improved resiliency, and enhanced customer experience.
Responsibilities
Configure, test, and validate Cradlepoint devices for backup connectivity and LTE network integration.Perform hands‑on configuration of IP routers, switches, telephony CPE, and Cradlepoint hardware.Design, configure, and deploy LAN/WAN network connections, including hardware, software, and communication services.Support and troubleshoot SD‑WAN Versa deployments in a lab environment.Work with next‑generation firewalls for configuration, testing, and policy validation.Optimize network and system performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.Support traditional analog and digital network hardware as needed.Monitor and maintain network infrastructure to meet Comcast standards for reliability and performance.Participate in lab testing cycles, documentation, and validation of new network solutions.Collaborate with engineering teams to support edge compute and network intelligence initiatives.Required Skills & Experience
5-8 years of hands‑on experience with Cisco and Juniper routers.Strong knowledge of internetworking design, routing, and backup connectivity solutions (Cradlepoint preferred).Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.Deep experience with routing protocols such as BGP, MPLS, OSPF.Hands‑on experience with SD‑WAN technologies, preferably Versa.Experience with next‑generation firewalls such as:Cisco ASAPalo AltoFortinet / FortiGateJuniper SRXCheck Point NGQualification

Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile Network & Systems Operations Engineer to support the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of clients network and system infrastructure. You will work across network and Linux/system layers, ensuring production stability and collaborating with engineering and product teams to operationalize new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production issues across network and Linux systems.Deploy, configure, and maintain network infrastructure (routers, switches, servers, and other hardware).Participate in on-call rotations to respond to service-impacting incidents.Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate, test, and operationalize new technologies.Develop and maintain monitoring and reporting tools to improve reliability and operational efficiency.Document operational procedures and maintain accurate device/network/system configurations.Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in network operations or production support in live, 24x7 environments.Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, VPNs) across Cisco, Juniper, or Arista devices.Strong Linux/Unix experience, including command-line troubleshooting.Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, DNS) and monitoring tools (Wireshark, Grafana, Nagios, PRTG, etc.).Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex multi-layer issues involving both network and system components.Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and support teams.Preferred Qualifications
Scripting experience in Python or Bash for automation and operational efficiency.Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef), or containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).Experience with cloud or virtualized environments (AWS, OpenStack, VMware).Relevant certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, CKA, or similar) are a plus.GCS is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
