This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams in a collaborative environment, contributing to pilot production, troubleshooting, and product validation to ensure high-quality output and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform precision assembly of fiber optic components and connectivity productsSupport prototype builds and pilot production linesConduct testing and validation to ensure product performance and quality standardsTroubleshoot assembly and production issues alongside engineering teamsFollow and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical documentationUtilize microscopes and precision tools for handling small componentsPerform quality inspections using measuring devices and inspection toolsCollaborate with multiple teams and stations to maintain smooth production workflowAssist in process improvements and continuous optimization initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements:

Detailed Job Description:

We are seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to join a growing automation engineering team building custom manufacturing equipment and production systems for a high-volume fiber optics environment. This role is focused on designing and developing the user-facing applications, dashboards, and operator interfaces that drive automation equipment and manufacturing operations.

You will build the tools that operators, engineers, and production teams interact with daily - from HMI-style equipment interfaces and real-time production dashboards to internal engineering tools and data visualization platforms. You will work closely with backend engineers, controls engineers, and mechanical engineers to deliver polished, reliable software that connects directly to the production floor. This position is based onsite in the southwest metro area of Minneapolis and supports global manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop user interfaces for manufacturing applications, operator dashboards, production monitoring tools, and internal engineering platformsBuild responsive, high-performance web applications using modern frontend frameworksCreate real-time data visualization dashboards for production metrics, equipment status, and process analyticsDevelop operator-facing interfaces for custom automation equipment, prioritizing usability, clarity, and reliability in a manufacturing environmentCollaborate with backend engineers to integrate frontend applications with APIs, databases, and equipment data streamsWork with controls and automation engineers to understand equipment workflows and translate them into intuitive user experiencesImplement data-driven UI components for reporting, trending, and alerting across production operationsEnsure applications are accessible, maintainable, and performant across devices and screen sizes used in production environmentsParticipate in design reviews and contribute to UX decisions for manufacturing software toolsSupport deployment and troubleshooting of frontend applications in production environmentsMaintain and improve existing internal tools and applications used by the automation and manufacturing teamsTravel to production locations as needed (up to 15%)

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field3+ years of experience in frontend software developmentStrong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)Experience building responsive web applications with clean, maintainable codeProficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling approaches (CSS modules, Tailwind, styled-components, or similar)Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with real-time data (WebSockets, polling, or similar)Understanding of version control (Git) and modern development workflowsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in UI implementationExcellent communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional engineering teamsAbility to travel up to 15%
