Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level Fiber Engineer with strong hands‑on technical aptitude to support fiber installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and network reliability operations. This role requires physical fieldwork, not IT desk work. The ideal candidate is a technically minded individual who is comfortable working with tools, fiber equipment, and network hardware in a fast‑paced environment.
You will be responsible for supporting fiber optic services, maintaining critical infrastructure, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation. This position requires the ability to drive to job sites using your own vehicle and bring a basic toolset including:

Responsibilities
Fiber & Network Operations
Assist in install, provision, test, and maintain DS0 through OC192 services.Install and test transmission/switching equipment as required.Troubleshoot network equipment issues, remove/replace defective modules, and coordinate repairs.Assist with installation, change, decommission, and testing activities for Next Generation technologies, including:Edge ComputeWavelength ServicesFiber Optic TransportEthernetSONETIP Network LayersField Maintenance & Infrastructure Support
Perform Level 1 preventive and scheduled maintenance on critical infrastructure including:HVAC systemsHigh‑voltage electrical systemsDC power plantsMaintain tools, test sets, and fiber transmission equipment including Lightwave multiplexing and AC/DC power equipment.Utilize standard industry software/hardware tools to locate, mark, and protect underground outside-plant fiber facilities.Asset Management & Documentation
Manage materials, including deliveries, shipping/receiving, and consumable replenishment.Track, maintain, and update inventory and installation records accurately.Ensure detailed documentation of trouble tickets, logs, and status reports.Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and workplace hazard guidelines.Restoration & Network Integrity
Monitor, locate, and assist with service restoration during outages.Proactively identify potential network issues to maintain service integrity.Collaborate with internal teams to restore network services efficiently.Systems & Tools
Learn and use internal systems including:Trouble ticketingProvisioning toolsTime trackingMaterials management applicationsComplete system updates, time logs, and job‑related activity reports.
Required Qualifications
Ability to use hand tools, testing instruments, and computerized devices for installation and troubleshooting.Strong problem‑solving skills under pressure with the ability to diagnose equipment/network issues.Excellent verbal communication skills for customer and team interactions.Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in installation, repair, and documentation.Knowledge of workplace safety hazards and ability to follow proper safety protocols.Must have personal vehicle and a basic toolset including: Viavi ONA800 and EXFO FIP500.
