Overview:

The project focuses on the development, assembly, testing, and validation of advanced fiber optic connectivity products used in modern telecommunications infrastructure. These high-precision components are designed to enable high-speed, reliable data transmission across large-scale data networks. The final products are delivered to major global clients, supporting data centers and next-generation communication systems. The Fiber Technician supports engineering and manufacturing operations by performing precision assembly, prototype builds, and product testing of fiber optic components. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams in a collaborative environment, contributing to pilot production, troubleshooting, and product validation to ensure high-quality output and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform precision assembly of fiber optic components and connectivity productsSupport prototype builds and pilot production linesConduct testing and validation to ensure product performance and quality standardsTroubleshoot assembly and production issues alongside engineering teamsFollow and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical documentationUtilize microscopes and precision tools for handling small componentsPerform quality inspections using measuring devices and inspection toolsCollaborate with multiple teams and stations to maintain smooth production workflowAssist in process improvements and continuous optimization initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience in fiber optic assembly or telecommunications manufacturingHands-on experience with microscopes, small components, or precision assembly workAbility to read and understand technical documentation and work instructionsFamiliarity with quality inspection tools and measurement equipmentStrong attention to detail and manual dexterityAbility to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment

Preferred Background:

Telecommunications, electronics manufacturing, cable manufacturing, medical device, or aerospace industriesRelevant education or training in engineering technology, electronics, or related fields

We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join a growing automation and manufacturing engineering team in a high-volume fiber optics production environment. This role is focused on optimizing manufacturing operations, improving workflow efficiency, and supporting the integration of new automation equipment into production.

You will analyze production processes, facility layouts, and operational workflows to identify improvement opportunities, reduce waste, and increase manufacturing capacity. You will work closely with automation, process, and manufacturing teams to ensure new equipment and processes are smoothly transitioned into production. This position is based onsite in the southwest metro area of Minneapolis and supports global manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and optimize manufacturing workflows, production layouts, and material flow for fiber optics assembly operationsDevelop and maintain capacity models, cycle time analyses, and production throughput metricsSupport the integration of new automation equipment into existing production lines, including layout planning, workflow design, and operator interfaceConduct time and motion studies to establish labor standards and identify efficiency improvement opportunitiesLead or support continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other IE methodologiesCollaborate with automation engineers, process engineers, and production management to plan and execute equipment deploymentDevelop and maintain standard work documentation, work instructions, and training materials for production operationsAnalyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes of inefficiencySupport capital expenditure planning and cost-benefit analysis for manufacturing improvement projectsContribute to facility planning and layout optimization as production scalesPartner with quality and safety teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet compliance standardsTravel to global production locations as needed (up to 15%)
