We are supporting a telecommunications network deployment project in Anchorage, Alaska, United States, focused on delivering connectivity across remote regions using VSAT (satellite communications) and microwave backhaul technologies.
We are seeking a VSAT Design Engineer / Satellite Communications Engineer / RF Engineer to support the design, integration, and optimization of satellite communication systems used for LTE and 5G telecom backhaul networks.
This is a long-term contract opportunity within the telecommunications industry, supporting a funded and active network infrastructure program.
Key Responsibilities
Design and engineer VSAT satellite communication systems for telecom backhaulPerform link budget calculations, fade margin analysis, and capacity planningConfigure RF systems across Ku-band, Ka-band, and C-band frequenciesSelect antennas, BUCs, LNBs, and modems for satellite deploymentsDevelop network topology, frequency plans, and system architectureIntegrate VSAT systems with satellite hubs (iDirect, Hughes, Comtech)Support deployment, commissioning, and antenna alignment in the fieldMonitor and optimize network performance (SNR, BER, throughput, latency)Troubleshoot RF, modem, and IP network issuesProduce technical documentation, diagrams, and test proceduresRequired Skills & Experience
Experience within the telecommunications industry supporting satellite / VSAT systemsStrong knowledge of RF engineering and satellite link designExperience with VSAT platforms (iDirect, Hughes, Gilat, UHP, Comtech)Familiarity with satellite access methods (TDMA, SCPC, DVB-S2X)Understanding of IP networking (TCP/IP, routing, QoS, VLANs)Experience supporting telecom network deployments or backhaul infrastructureAdditional Information
