Technical IT Business Analyst
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Business Process & IT Recovery Analyst to work closely with operational and business teams to understand, document, and map critical business services and the underlying technology that enables them. The successful candidate will create comprehensive documentation to support IT service continuity and disaster recovery, ensuring that critical services can be restored efficiently in the event of an outage.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with operational departments to understand how their services are delivered.Document business processes, workflows, supporting technologies, and system dependencies.Identify which systems and technologies are critical to service delivery and prioritise them based on business impact.Produce and maintain clear technical documentation to support service recovery and rebuild activities.Work with application owners, infrastructure teams, and technical specialists to document recovery procedures for all components of the technology stack.Develop process maps and recovery documentation covering applications, infrastructure, integrations, and supporting services.Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with IT continuity and disaster recovery requirements.Key Skills & Experience
Strong technical background with the ability to understand enterprise IT infrastructure.Proven experience in business process analysis, process mapping, and documentation.Experience documenting complex technical environments and system dependencies.Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather information from both technical and non-technical teams.Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.Experience working within IT Service Continuity, Disaster Recovery, or Business Continuity programmes is highly desirable.Technical Knowledge
Candidates should have a good understanding of enterprise technology environments, including:
Active Directory and foundational infrastructureServers, storage, networking, and virtualisationBackup and recovery technologiesRemote access platforms (e.g. Citrix)Systems integration and interoperabilityData platforms and data engineeringEnterprise and business-critical applicationsEnd-user devices and supporting infrastructureThe successful candidate should demonstrate an understanding of infrastructure dependencies and recognise that applications cannot be recovered until the underlying platform services are operational.
