How Youll Help Us Connect the World:
As an ISP Fiber Eng, you will be responsible for the hands on installation, racking, and cabling of fiber and network infrastructure supporting inside plant (ISP) environments, including data center/POP site. This is an onsite, physical role centered on rack and stack work and fiber installation, not primarily fiber testing or design. You will work directly inside customer facilities in the Chicago area, executing installations to plan and to CommScope standards.
You Will Make an Impact By
Performing rack and stack installations, including mounting cabinets, racks, cable trays, and fiber raceways
Installing, routing, and dressing fiber optic cabling throughout data center and POP site environments
Terminating fiber patch cords and connecting equipment to fiber distribution panels and optical distribution frames
Reading and executing installations from approved floor plans, rack elevations, and port maps
Performing basic fiber testing to confirm connectivity following installation
Maintaining proper cable management, labeling, and documentation standards throughout each build
Coordinating with project management and engineering teams to meet delivery timelines
Following established safety procedures and quality standards on every site
Required Qualifications for Consideration
Experience working hands on in a data center or ISP fiber environment
Direct experience with rack and stack installation, including racks, cabinets, and cable management
Experience running, routing, and terminating fiber optic cabling
Comfortable reading and working from floor plans, rack elevations, or port maps
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods
Reliable transportation to Chicago area customer sites
Strong communication and customer service skills
You Will Excite Us If You
Have experience with fiber splicing and fusion splicing
Have hands on OTDR testing experience
Have prior experience supporting hyperscale or POP site data center build outs
Are comfortable working flexible hours, including some nights or weekends as project timelines require
