We are hiring an experienced Information Governance Officer (IGO). The team they are joining is responsible for delivering and supporting a range of cloud-based solutions that enhance collaboration, communication, and productivity across the organisation. The IGO will work closely with stakeholders, end users, and technical teams to ensure that Office 365 information governance aligns with business needs and regulatory obligations.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement policies for managing the lifecycle of information assets in M365 (e.g., retention, deletion, archiving, backup, recovery).Govern M365 groups (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook) in line with organisational policies.Enforce workspace governance controls (naming conventions, access permissions, retention policies, deletion schedules).Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., data protection, privacy, security, e-discovery).Monitor and audit governance practices using tools like Compliance Score, Compliance Manager, and audit logs.Provide guidance to users and administrators on best practices (labelling, classification, sensitivity).Identify and resolve governance-related risks (e.g., data breaches, data loss, data quality issues).Collaborate with legal, risk, IT, and business units to align governance with organisational goals.Stay updated on trends in information governance and M365, recommending improvements.Manage content lifecycle from creation to disposition, ensuring relevance and accessibility.Develop and manage external and guest access policies and procedures.Promote governance adoption across departments to foster a culture of compliance.Support or lead investigations involving M365 data (e.g., breach analysis, eDiscovery, audit trails).Skills and QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Law, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years' experience in compliance management, auditing, or consulting.Strong knowledge of M365 services, especially compliance and governance features.Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, ISO 27001).Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Certification in M365 compliance (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Compliance Administrator Associate) is advantageous.GCS is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
