Opportunity Overview:
An established organisation in the agri-food and retail sector is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to support its site operations in Sligo. Reporting to the site H&S Specialist, the successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating Health & Safety (H&S) activities, working closely with various functions to promote a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to Health & Safety.
Develop and implement H&S procedures and policies to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.
Support site teams with inspections, risk assessments, training needs analysis, PPE surveys, and occupational health & hygiene assessments.
Ensure thorough recording and investigation of all accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Generate and share monthly incident/accident reports with management.
Collaborate with medical and occupational health providers to assess and mitigate occupational health risks.
Maintain accurate records of all H&S documentation using software tools and systems such as SharePoint.
Monitor and evaluate site-specific H&S Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Coordinate and deliver training (including induction) on H&S responsibilities across all staff levels.
Create and distribute regular H&S communications, bulletins, and best practice guides.
Work collaboratively with other H&S team members across the wider organisation.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
A recognised qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage across all staff levels.
A proactive attitude and drive to achieve high safety standards.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic document management tools.
