Fiber Assembly TechnicianProject Overview

We are launching a new prototype manufacturing line focused on the assembly and production of advanced fiber optic cable and connector products. This is a unique opportunity to join a ground-floor initiative involving the development of new manufacturing processes, implementation of new equipment, and establishment of a fully integrated fiber assembly line.

The production line consists of multiple workstations, including sorting, stripping, preparation, coating, assembly, inspection, testing, and documentation. Technicians will receive cross-training across all stations to develop end-to-end product knowledge and support operational flexibility.

This is a hands-on role within a laboratory and manufacturing environment, involving precision assembly, equipment operation, inspection, documentation, and quality assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Technicians will:

Perform hands-on fiber optic assembly on prototype and pre-production products.Utilize microscopes, crimping tools, stripping equipment, epoxies, and other precision assembly tools.Conduct visual inspections and quality checks throughout the production process.Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Document production activities, measurements, test results, and build notes using internal systems and spreadsheets.Identify and troubleshoot assembly or process-related issues, escalating concerns when necessary.Rotate through multiple production stations to develop comprehensive product and process knowledge.Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workspace.Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet project goals and production targets.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.Strong mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly experience.Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred:Cable and wire harness assemblyPCB/electronics assemblyMedical device manufacturingAerospace manufacturingRoboticsAutomotive manufacturingIndustrial machinery or equipment assemblyComfortable working with precision hand tools, including:CrimpersCuttersTweezersMicroscopesCalipers and measurement toolsAbility to read, understand, and follow detailed written work instructions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately document work performed.Preferred SkillsExperience working in a manufacturing, laboratory, or cleanroom environment.Familiarity with quality inspection processes and documentation practices.Ability to learn new processes and adapt to changing production requirements.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Experience with prototype builds or new product introductions is a plus.What Makes a Successful Technician?Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.Strong attention to detail and quality standards.Ability to perform repetitive precision assembly tasks consistently.Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Flexibility to work across multiple stations and processes.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.Why Join This Opportunity?Be part of a new product development and manufacturing initiative from the ground up.Gain exposure to advanced fiber optic manufacturing processes.Receive cross-training across multiple production disciplines.Work closely with engineering and technical teams.Develop valuable skills in precision manufacturing, quality assurance, and process development.Opportunities for career growth as production operations expand.
