Purpose of the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Civil Aerospace Technical Finance team, with a specific focus on technical accounting issues and assurance activities. The role reports to the Head of Technical Finance, Civil Aerospace but is required to work closely with key stakeholders in finance and business teams across Civil Aerospace and with our external auditors PwC.
What you'll do:
Responsible for ensuring compliance with financial policy and regulatory standards. Partner closely with the business to understand key business issues and key accounting judgements and support by providing expertise on technical accounting treatments in line with IFRS and Group Finance manualsAssist the programme management of the external audit, owning the relationship with our auditors, PwC. Working with key stakeholders across the business and in Group, produce high quality key audit issues papers and present to the Civil Audit CommitteeWork across the business to manage financial risk by challenging the integrity and accuracy of our accounting and reporting through stewardshipResponsible for enforcing the Group's corporate governance framework to mitigate the risk of fraud and error, including leading the quarterly balance sheet reviews within Civil Aerospace and reporting into Group Finance and PwCProvide functional assurance for investments, customer bids and procurement contracts across the division to enable the Group to make informed decisions based on technically accurate financial informationPlay an integral part of the Civil Financial Control Leadership Team, ensuring alignment across different local teams to drive synergies, efficiency and effectivenessThe skills you'll need:
A professional accountancy qualification and IFRS experience is critical. The Senior Strategy & Business Insights Manager will ensure the organisation stays ahead of the curve by turning external insight into strategy and action. They will directly deliver work that will contribute to the client's goals of maintaining relevance of the profession, building organisational reputation and supporting resilience of members. The role will identify and interpret trends shaping our profession, market, and wider world, and translate them into clear choices for the Executive, informing strategy and the annual operational planning process. The postholder has an important role in accelerating problem solving across the organisation. Driving rapid, practical cross-functional sprints, delivering outputs that accelerate product innovation, decision-making, and organisational agility.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead external horizon scanning, across areas that are relevant to the profession and broader business world.Collaboratively coordinate and synthesise insights from external research, competitor activity, policy, and global trends.Develop and manage an enterprise-wide approach to capturing and organising strategic insight, in a consistent and easily shareable way.Produce clear, forward-looking analysis that informs Executive strategy discussions.Contribute to the development and written articulation of organisational strategy.Monitor and report on progress in implementing the strategy.Support the annual review of the strategic environment and assumptions, feeding insights into the refresh of strategy and the development of operational plans.Where required, commission or coordinate input from third parties to inform strategic reviews, specific pieces of research, or updates to the long-term strategy.Design, plan, and run strategic sprints on priority strategic challenges.Ensure sprint outcomes accelerate product-to-market, policy positions, or other key decision points.Act as a trusted partner to the CEO Office and senior leaders across the organisation, providing clarity and challenge on strategic issues.Work with product, service, and transformation leads to ensure insights drive measurable impact for members and stakeholders.Contribute to Executive reporting, preparing concise, evidence-led recommendations.Champion a culture of agility, pace, and evidence-based decision-making.Mentor colleagues in strategic thinking and problem-solving approaches.Build organisational capacity for agile problem-solving, equipping leaders and teams with sprint methods.Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with business needs.
Essential skills
Degree or equivalent professional experience.Experience working in strategy, or insight in a large or complex organisation.Experience of horizon scanning, scenario planning or structured strategy review processes.Demonstrable track record of leading sprints, tiger teams, or other agile interventions that delivered tangible outcomes.Able to gather and interpret business, political and international market insight, and turn it into clear, practical recommendations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to connect detail with the bigger picture.Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Including confidence running senior level workshops.Experience producing high-quality reports and presentations for Executive audiences.Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.Collaborative style, with a track record of building effective cross-functional relationships and working with senior leaders.
Desirable
