We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Operations Engineer - Master Control to support the technical execution and quality of live sports programming. This role is responsible for monitoring and controlling broadcast feeds, executing commercial and sponsorship elements, maintaining transmission quality, managing real-time schedule changes, and resolving operational issues to ensure seamless on-air delivery.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in master control, transmission, or live media operations and thrives in a fast-paced, highly time-sensitive environment. This position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and accurately to issues during live broadcasts. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and holidays based on event and programming requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform quality assurance (QA) of incoming and outgoing media to verify technical and editorial readiness for air.Operate within a broadcast master control environment supporting live sports and event programming.Monitor video, audio, and transmission feeds to identify and resolve quality or continuity issues.Execute commercial breaks and sponsorship elements accurately and according to broadcast schedules and client requirements.Manage playlists, rundowns, and transmission logs in real time, including schedule changes, delays, overruns, and breaking programming adjustments.Track sponsorship placements and verify fulfillment of contractual broadcast requirements.Monitor automation systems and take manual control when required to maintain broadcast continuity.Troubleshoot and recover from automation failures, feed disruptions, and other operational issues during live events.Coordinate with broadcast operations, engineering, production, traffic, and client teams to communicate and resolve on-air issues.Maintain accurate records of incidents, exceptions, commercial execution, and other operational activities.Prepare and distribute post-event and exception reports to internal stakeholders and clients.Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, broadcast compliance, reliability, and professionalism in a live production environment.Qualifications & ExperienceRequiredProfessional experience in broadcast master control, transmission, broadcast operations, or live media operations.Demonstrated ability to perform real-time monitoring, QA, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during live broadcasts.Strong understanding of broadcast workflows, commercial insertion, programming schedules, and transmission operations.Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under significant time constraints.Ability to remain calm and make sound operational decisions during live on-air incidents.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and event-driven schedules.High level of reliability, accountability, and professionalism.TechnologiesExperience with one or more of the following broadcast automation, playout, and transmission platforms is highly desirable:
