Azure Operations Engineer

We are seeking an experienced **Azure Operations Engineer** to support the management, maintenance and ongoing improvement of a cloud infrastructure environment.

This role will suit an engineer with strong hands-on experience across Microsoft Azure, infrastructure operations, identity management and cloud security. You will be responsible for maintaining a secure, reliable and well-performing environment, troubleshooting complex technical issues and supporting the continuous improvement of cloud operations.

This is an infrastructure-focused position, ideal for someone with a strong Azure engineering background who enjoys working across cloud services, systems administration, security and automation.

## Key Responsibilities

- Manage, maintain and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
- Monitor the performance, availability and health of the Azure environment, identifying and resolving operational issues.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, connectivity and system-related incidents.
- Manage identity and access controls across Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including permissions, authentication and access management.
- Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory and associated infrastructure services.
- Maintain and troubleshoot networking components, including DNS, DHCP, connectivity and network configurations.
- Implement and maintain security controls, infrastructure hardening and cloud security best practices.
- Support patching, upgrades, configuration management and vulnerability remediation.
- Identify opportunities to automate routine operational tasks using PowerShell and infrastructure automation tools.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code initiatives using tools such as Terraform, where applicable.
- Work closely with infrastructure, security and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and infrastructure standards.

## Desired Experience

- Strong hands-on experience managing and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
- Solid background in cloud infrastructure, IT operations or systems administration.
- Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, identity management and access controls.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, routing and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure issues across cloud and enterprise environments.

##Bonus Experience

- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Familiarity with Azure security services, monitoring and logging.
- Experience with vulnerability remediation, patch management and compliance requirements.

Overview

We're recruiting for an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to join the Cybersecurity Product Sustained Engineering team of a leading global financial services organisation.

This role offers the opportunity to work on enterprise-scale Azure environments, supporting cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code. You'll work closely with engineering, architecture, security and operations teams to deliver secure, reliable and scalable cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure including Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, subnets, private endpoints and Azure Storage.Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep and ARM templates.Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for infrastructure and application deployments.Develop Python automation and Azure Functions to support cloud-based solutions.Support Azure App Services and other custom-built applications across enterprise environments.Implement monitoring, logging and diagnostics using Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics.Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and application issues and develop automated, scalable solutions.Work closely with architects, developers, security teams and stakeholders to support and evolve the Azure platform.Ensure cloud infrastructure and applications adhere to security, governance, compliance and regulatory standards.Produce clear technical documentation, infrastructure configurations and operational procedures.Contribute as a technical SME, providing guidance on cloud engineering, automation and infrastructure decisions.

Required Skills

Proven experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering role.Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in an enterprise environment.Strong experience managing Azure Virtual Machines and Virtual Networks (VNets).Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, particularly using Azure DevOps.Strong Terraform experience with Infrastructure as Code.Hands-on programming or scripting experience using Python, PowerShell or Bash.Experience with Azure Storage and core Azure infrastructure services.Experience working within complex enterprise or data-centre environments.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills
