We're supporting a major financial services organisation on a large-scale cloud transformation programme and are looking for a senior AWS Cloud Application Engineer to help drive cloud adoption, improve developer experience, and establish engineering best practices across a complex enterprise environment.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced software engineer who enjoys working directly with development teams, solving complex technical challenges, and enabling the adoption of secure, cloud-native application development practices within a regulated environment.
The RoleDesign and implement AWS engineering standards, guardrails and reusable development patternsSupport application modernisation and cloud migration initiativesHelp engineering teams adopt AWS services, tooling and best practicesConduct technical research, proof-of-concepts and architecture assessmentsDrive improvements in developer experience and software delivery practicesPartner with engineering, platform, security and architecture teamsProvide hands-on technical leadership, coaching and mentoringInfluence engineering direction and cloud adoption across multiple delivery teamsRequired ExperienceStrong software engineering background with extensive AWS application development experienceDeep understanding of AWS services, cloud-native architectures and developer toolingExperience with AWS Step Functions and distributed application architecturesStrong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, CI/CD and automationAbility to operate in complex enterprise environments and influence technical decision-makingExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsProven experience driving adoption of new technologies, standards and engineering practicesHighly DesirablePrevious experience within Financial Services, Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance or other regulated environmentsExperience working within governance, risk, compliance or security-focused engineering environmentsExperience with AI-assisted software development toolsKnowledge of containerised development environmentsExposure to telemetry, engineering analytics and reportingData engineering or analytics experiencePlease send across an updated CV if this position is of interest
