AI Solutions Engineer (Contract)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer to identify, shape, and deliver AI-driven solutions that create measurable business value. Working closely with product and engineering teams, you will uncover high-impact opportunities, validate concepts through rapid prototyping, and ultimately build production-ready AI capabilities that improve customer outcomes, operational efficiency, resilience, and controls.

This is a hands-on engineering role where success is measured by delivering secure, scalable, and adoptable solutions into production. You will partner closely with AI Product Managers and platform teams to turn ideas into tangible outcomes across multiple workstreams.

Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and qualify AI opportunities through data analysis, operational insights, process telemetry, and stakeholder engagement.Define and shape AI use cases, including problem statements, target users, success metrics, constraints, risks, and controls.Build rapid prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and technical spikes to validate feasibility and value.Engineer, deploy, and support production-grade AI solutions integrated with existing platforms and services.Integrate AI capabilities with APIs, data sources, authentication systems, audit tooling, monitoring, and logging frameworks.Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and monitoring capabilities to measure solution effectiveness and business value.Collaborate with product teams to prioritise opportunities and maintain a high-value delivery pipeline.Develop reusable assets including templates, reference architectures, shared libraries, standards, and implementation guides.Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and technical recommendations to stakeholders.Support multiple concurrent initiatives within an Agile delivery environment.Essential Skills & ExperienceAI & AutomationProven experience building and delivering AI capabilities, tooling, or automation solutions.Strong understanding of AI solution design, implementation, and deployment.Experience identifying business problems and translating them into practical AI use cases.Software EngineeringStrong hands-on software engineering experience across the full development lifecycle.Experience designing, building, testing, deploying, and operating production services.Demonstrated ability to take prototypes and proofs of concept into enterprise-scale production environments.Strong experience with:PythonSQLAPIs and service integrationsData & AnalyticsStrong analytical mindset with experience using data to uncover opportunities and measure outcomes.Experience working with operational metrics, telemetry, logs, and product analytics.Ability to define meaningful KPIs and use insights to drive continuous improvement.Delivery & CollaborationExperience working closely with product and business stakeholders to solve complex problems.Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and translating ideas into executable plans.Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Experience working within Agile delivery teams.Fluent English with the ability to collaborate across global and multicultural teams.Desirable ExperienceExperience delivering AI/ML or Generative AI solutions in production.Knowledge of:Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)LLM integrationsPrompt engineering and tooling patternsAI evaluation frameworksFamiliarity with Responsible AI principles including privacy, bias mitigation, auditability, and governance requirements.Experience working within regulated or highly controlled enterprise environments.Experience with:Kubernetes and containerisationCI/CD pipelinesInfrastructure as Code (IaC)API gatewaysSecrets managementObservability and monitoring toolingExperience creating reusable engineering frameworks, templates, and internal developer tooling that accelerate adoption across teams.What We're Looking For
